Eating Disorder Care Plans & Rebates
If you’re seeking support for an eating disorder, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates through an Eating Disorder Plan (EDP). This plan provides access to rebated sessions with dietitians, psychologists, and your GP to help support your recovery.
What is an Eating Disorder Plan (EDP)?
An EDP is a Medicare-supported plan for individuals diagnosed with a severe eating disorder, such as:
✔️ Anorexia Nervosa
✔️ Bulimia Nervosa
✔️ Binge Eating Disorder
✔️ Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders (OSFED)
With an EDP, you can receive rebated sessions with a dietitian and psychologist to support your health and recovery.
What You Get with an EDP
✔️ 20 Medicare-rebated dietitian sessions per year
✔️40 Medicare-rebated psychological therapy sessions per year
✔️ Ongoing support and reviews from your GP
How to Get an EDP
1. See Your GP or Psychiatrist – They will assess your eligibility based on your symptoms and diagnosis.
2. Get an Eating Disorder Plan – If eligible, your doctor will create an EDP

Who is Eligible?
You may be eligible if you have a diagnosed eating disorder and meet specific severity criteria, such as:
✔️ Rapid weight loss or low BMI
✔️ Frequent binge eating, purging, or restrictive eating
✔️ Significant distress and impact on daily life
Other Funding Options
✔️Private Health Insurance – Some extras cover dietitian sessions. Check with your provider.
✔️ NDIS – If an eating disorder affects your daily functioning, you may be eligible for support.
